Man shot during Brinks robbery dies

Shooting occured near Southport and U.S. 31

INDIANAPOLIS - A man shot last month during an attempted robbery of a Brinks armored truck has died, Indianapolis police said.

IMPD officials confirmed that Timothy Jackson, 53, died Friday at Eskenazi Hospital from injuries sustained during the robbery attempt.

The incident occurred on Dec. 22 outside of a Wal-Mart on U.S. 31 near Southport Road.

Police said Jackson approached a parked Brinks truck and used pepper spray on one of the guards before attempting to take the money bag he was carrying. Jackson was wearing body armor at the time, according to police.

Jackson was shot multiple times by one of the Brinks guards and attempted to flee on foot. A citizen and off-duty police officer caught him a short distance away.
