SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. - A person spotted swimming in a frigid Indiana river could be a missing 37-year-old man, police said.
Shane R. Porter, 37, of Dugger, hadn't talked to family members or reported to work since he was last seen Friday at his home, and state police said he may be experiencing "family and mental issues."
Just before 9 p.m. Friday, a man was spotted swimming in the Wabash River near the Pearl City area of Vincennes. Police and conservation officers were called to the scene, but did not find the swimmer.
Although it's not known if the man seen swimming was Porter, his vehicle was recovered Sunday night in a parking area near the river.
Porter is described as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 200 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt.
Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts is asked to call the Putnamville State Police Post 765-653-4114.
