INDIANAPOLIS - An Indianapolis man who provided a loaded handgun to a career criminal who used it to kill a police officer has been sentenced to 57 months in prison.
An indictment says Eric Jenkins provided a handgun to Thomas Hardy, a convicted felon who used it to shoot Indianapolis police Officer David Moore during a January 2011 traffic stop. The 29-year-old Moore died three days later.
Hardy pleaded guilty last year and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
State prison officials say Hardy was on parole and had been erroneously released from jail weeks before Moore's killing.
