INDIANAPOLIS - The Marion County Coroner's Office has officially identified the victims of the explosion on Indianapolis' south side as John and Jennifer Longworth.
Chief Deputy Coroner Alfarena T. Ballew said dental records were used to identify the victims, whose remains were recovered from a home in the Richmond Hill subdivision after Saturday night's blast that leveled homes and displaced 200 people.
Special Section: Indy Explosion
The cause and manner of death are pending, Ballew said.
John "Dion" Longworth, who worked at Indy Audio Labs, and Jennifer Longworth, a second-grade teacher at Greenwood's Southwest Elementary School, lived next to the home that exploded, investigators said.
A funeral for the couple will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church at 8300 Rahke Road. Calling will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-St Pierre Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Greenwood Schools have canceled classes Monday at Southwest Elementary School so staff members and students can attend the funeral.
Donations to the Dion and Jennifer Longworth Memorial Fund can be made online at www.cicf.org or by mailing checks to CICF at 615 N. Alabama St. Suite 119, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
