JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. -
A Marion County Sheriff's Deputy was arrested Thursday on seven felony charges of distributing and possessing child porn, officials said.
Benjamin Farson, 29, was taken into custody after an investigation by the Greenwood Police Department that began on Sept. 12.
Investigators said Farson was suspected of viewing videos and pictures of child porn from a computer at his Greenwood home in the 1700 block of Honey Lane.
Greenwood police then contacted the MCSO after learning that Farson worked there. While being interviewed, police said Farson admitted to downloading and possessing child porn on his computer. He was fired shortly after his arrest.
"So far, it looks like he was downloading this stuff off the Internet and also uploading it to the Internet," said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of Greenwood police. "I would worry anytime you have someone who is interested in child pornography and that's what excites him. Yeah, I would talk to my children."
Investigators said Farson allegedly used his computer while he was off-duty.
Farson was taken into custody at the Marion County Jail before being transferred to the Johnson County Jail in Franklin. He is being held on $56,000 bond.
Police said there is no evidence that Farson produced any child pornography.
The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation was ongoing.
