LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- MSD of Lawrence Township will be expanding their Spanish-immersion program following a number of requests from community members.

For more than twenty years, the Forest Glen Elementary immersion program has been a national leader in bilingual education. Due to its popularity, the program will now be offered at Skiles Test Elementary.

While the school will keep its science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) focus, Skiles Test will be adding immersion in kindergarten and first grade.

The early application process for the 2018-2019 school year for these programs will run from November 15 - December 1, 2017. If there are more applicants than seats, a computerized admittance process will be utilized.

According to the school, the Skiles Test expansion will be unique as they blend the immersion program with the current state-accredited STEM program.

Not only will students receive core instruction in Spanish, but they will continue existing STEM programming, including the engineering design process, robotics, coding, and environmental science.

Informational meetings for the new program at Skiles Test will be held on October 23 and November 13, between 6:30-7:30 PM.
