BORDEN, Ind. - A Massachusetts man was arrested in Indiana after a nearly four-year investigation Friday, officials said.
David Walsh, 50, was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, child solicitation and inappropriate communication with a minor, authorities said.
A trooper with the Indiana State Police started an investigation after receiving a report of sexual misconduct with a minor in January of 2010.
The alleged incident took place in November of 2009. Police said Walsh met a 14-year-old juvenile on the Internet, gained her confidence and arranged a meeting with her under the alias David Walls.
Police said once the two met on North Franklin School Road in Washington County, Walsh allegedly had sex with the 14-year-old female. Police said he knew she was 14, and he was 46 years old at the time of the encounter.
ISP troopers said Walsh continued to communicate with the juvenile, but authorities couldn’t idenfity Walsh as the predator because of his alias.
In October of 2013, authorities were able to identify the alias as Walsh of Massachusetts.
Police received a tip that Walsh would be in Indiana on Friday to meet the former juvenile, who is now 18, and her family.
Troopers found Walsh in the Borden, Ind. area and arrested him on multiple charges.
Walsh was taken to the Washington County Jail while he waits for his first court appearance.
Anyone who knows or has come in contact with Walsh in person, or by the internet, is encouraged to contact the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg at 812-246-5424 and speak with Trooper Caudill or Detective Eickholtz.
