INDIANAPOLIS -- Mayor Joe Hogsett is about one-third of the way through the first 100 days of his administration.
Tops on the mayor's list is tackling crime. Specifically, a greater focus on violent crime and youth.
"Last year we had 14 homicide suspects who were under the age of 18. We had two victims so far this year. That is something we have to watch closely. We are hearing from pastors that young people don't value life. They are not afraid of taking someone's life. They don't have the conscience. We have to break the cycle of ignorance," said Troy Riggs, Metro Police Chief.

The city's Real-Time Data Center is now up and running. Announced in January, it taps into more than 100 databases maintained by the IMPD.
Police officers on the street can now quickly access data, which helps them make a more informed response to crime scenes.
Rank and file officers also will be spending more time getting to know the community
"Return to community based, beat-oriented jurisdiction so every officer knows their neighbor and the neighbors know their police officers. These are first steps toward recapturing the streets," said Mayor Joe Hogsett.
