RUSHVILLE, Ind. -- Rush County prosecutors have agreed to drop marijuana charges against Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett's son in exchange for a fine and a one-year probationary period.
William Hogsett, 18, was arrested July 1 on Old State Road 44 in Rush County on charges of possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.

Officers initially pulled Hogsett over for crossing over the center land and failure to use a turn signal. Once stopped, officers said they smelled marijuana and detected signs of impairment from Hogsett.
On Monday, prosecutors filed a pretrial diversion agreement dropping the charges against Hogsett if he agrees to pay $333 in court costs and commit no criminal offenses for a year. Hogsett also agrees not to illegally use or possess narcotics unless prescribed by a physician and not to drink alcohol.
Hogsett was represented in the case by Rushville-based attorney Paul Barada Jr.
