INDIANAPOLIS -- Hundreds of mayors from across the country headed home this week after the U.S. Conference of Mayors' annual meeting in Indianapolis.

The event brought high praise for the Circle City and Mayor Joe Hogsett.

"I will say, Mayor Hogsett has rolled out the red carpet," said Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. "I haven't been to Indy in years, and it's a beautiful city and everyone's been great, so we definitely worked hard, but we got to play hard too."

Hogsett said the event provided good visibility for the city.

"There are many aspects of our community that are still not really well known, but are now becoming well known for the focus the U.S. Conference of Mayors has brought on this city."

Former Mayor Greg Ballard said he was glad to see the conference come to Indianapolis.

"There are a lot of influential people, and I knew during a presidential election year that more people would come, and national media would come," Ballard said. "I was a trustee with the organization and it was time that Indianapolis go to host this thing."

The conference's final event was a party Monday night at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
