INDIANAPOLIS -- An act of kindness for an autistic boy is bringing a lot of attention to one teen who works at McDonald's on the city's west side.
To Bonnie Kandel’s 7-year-old son, Leif, collecting the current Teen Titan toys from his Happy Meals was very important.
So on Monday night when Leif’s meal didn’t come with a Teen Titan toy, he was upset.
"I explained more about Leif and why it was so important to him... that he had been talking about these toys nonstop for weeks," Kandel shared in a post.
So Ta’Qualliyia Patterson sprang into action.
With her manager’s permission, Ta’Qualliyia took the toy kiosk apart and sifted through to find all of the Teen Titans toys for Leif.
“It made me feel good because I saw a kid happy and got something that they want instead of just keep crying about it,” said Ta’Qualliyia.
Leif’s mother posted the shared the story with Love What Matters, because it meant so much to her that someone would go out of their way to make her son happy.
"Thank you, TQ, at the 10th and Girls School Road McDonald's in Speedway... Your effort was an expression of love and made a difference," Kandel's post read.
Ta’Qualliyia’s mom wasn’t surprised when she heard about her daughter’s actions. She said it’s just her personality.
“I didn’t really feel like she went out of her way and did something special, because that’s just how she is on a normal basis,” said Jennifer.
Ta’Qualliyia said she was just doing what she would do for anyone.
“Just do something nice because you don’t ever know what you could do,” said Patterson.
