BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- A Monroe County bus driver has been arrested and faces charges related to child pornography.

Bloomington police arrested Timothy Poteat, 43, on Tuesday. He's charged with possession of child pornography.

Police said Poteat is a bus driver for Monroe County schools.

The Monroe County Community School Corporation posted the following statement to social media on Wednesday following the arrest of Poteat.

As you know, the safety and security of our children is our first priority. It is with great sadness that we have been made aware of an arrest of an Monroe County Community School Corporation bus driver yesterday evening by the Bloomington Police Department. We are ready to assist the BPD in any way possible. Again, the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority.

The district said they cannot comment on Poteat's employee status but they said, "he no longer drives a bus."

One mother said she did not like Poteat as the driver for her two girls.

"I'm afraid he has taken pictures or other things in a place on the bus where the camera wasn't visible," said Mallie Stevens. "Who knows how many pictures of children he has and how many he has said 'show me this,' 'show me that' to."

This case remains under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department.
