INDIANAPOLIS -- Drivers on State Road 37 between Martinsville and Bloomington will have to contend with construction headaches longer than expected.
INDOT says the work – which was supposed to be finished this October – has been delayed eight months and will be done by July 2017.
The 20-mile stretch of road is being rebuilt into the latest section of I-69, which will eventually connect Indianapolis and Evansville.
In part, the delays are the result of disputes between the contractor and sub-contractors involved in the work.
The construction project has increased drive time between Martinsville and Bloomington – especially when Indiana University is hosting football and basketball games.
In the next phase of construction, SR 37 will be rebuilt into an interstate between Indy and Martinsville that will connect with I-465 on the south side.
