INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis police have identified a homicide victim found in Morgan County Saturday as 26-year-old Kelly Moss of Indianapolis.
Police said they are searching for David Lawrence, 31, of Indianapolis, in connection with the murder.
In a report released Monday, police said they were contacted Saturday by a witness who alerted them to a possible homicide which had happened Thursday. The witness told police she had loaned her car to a man, who she identified as David Lawrence.
The witness stated that Lawrence told her he had shot and killed Kelly Moss while she sat in the front seat of the car, according to the report. The vehicle was recovered and towed to a secure crime lab bay.
Moss's body was discovered wrapped in a blanket in a remote area of Morgan County Saturday. An autopsy on Moss is pending.
IMPD officials said a search for Lawrence is underway. He is considered armed and dangerous, and may be in possession of a gun.
Lawrence is 6 feet tall, weighs roughly 280 pounds and is bald with a goatee. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911 and report his location. IMPD said not to approach the suspect. He is also wanted on an unrelated warrant for theft.
