BROOKVILLE, Ind. - A motorcyclist was killed Sunday when he tried to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone, Indiana State Police said.
The crash happened about 7:45 p.m. Sunday on State Road 1 north of Brookville, in Franklin County.
ISP investigators said Benjamin Hanson, 38, of Connersville, was northbound a little more than a mile north of Brookville when he attempted the pass.
A southbound van approached, and Hanson tried to swerve back into his lane, but lost control.
"The van struck the motorcycle and then swerved into the northbound lane, forcing a third vehicle … into the guardrail," ISP said in a news release.
Hanson was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
