GREENFIELD Ind. -- Multiple people were injured in a serious crash involving a church van in Greenfield Friday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 3 p.m. on State Road 9 near the Hancock Regional Hospital. A church van and at least two other vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to the pastor of Trinity Park United Methodist Church, all patients have now been released from the hospital and are at home recovering. No identities have been released.
According to IU Health, 1 child remained at Riley Hospital on Saturday in critical condition. Two other patients were at IU Health Methodist Hospital, one serious and one fair. No identities have been released.
A crash witness and one of the first on the scene, Justin Jenkins, said this was his first time seeing a crash this serious.
"The freight truck and the little gray car collided and clipped the church van. When I stopped the church van went sideways and then it flipped," said Jenkins. "As soon as it happened the first thing I did was run over to them and get the kids out. All of them were covered in blood and some kind of scratches and marks."
The crash remains under investigation by the Greenfield Police Department.
Police Chief Jeff Rasche said the witnesses were very helpful.
'We're very thankful we had a lot of bystanders that came out and provided help to these children until we had additional EMS on the scene," said Rasche.
Jenkins said he hopes someone else would do the same for his own child.
"I just did what I thought I needed to do by getting them out as safely as I could," he said.
