A Florida truck driver was arrested for allegedly causing a chain-reaction crash that involved six semi-trucks and one van on I-65 Thursday.
The crash happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. on I-65 near the 92-mile marker, close to the city of Franklin.
Police said Jose Montalvo, 43, of Hialeah, Florida, was driving a red 2000 Freightliner when he came upon stopped traffic in the right lane. Rather than stopping, Montalvo rear-ended another semi, causing a chain reaction that collected six other semis and a van.
The driver of one of those semis was taken to the hospital.
Montalvo reportedly fled on foot from the scene, but was located a short time later by Johnson County Sheriff's deputies.
He was arrested on preliminary charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash and driving without insurance. He was also cited for several Federal Motor Carrier violations.
