INDIANAPOLIS -- A case of the mumps has been confirmed on the IUPUI campus.

According to a letter sent to students and faculty, IUPUI has been working closely with the Marion County Health Department and the student to identify and notify anyone with whom the student may have been in close contact with.

The letter says if a person has not been contacted, there is no medical reason to believe they are at risk for potential exposure.

There are steps students, faculty and staff should take:

  • Check your vaccination record with your primary care provider
  • Practice good hygiene habits - wash hands, sneeze and cough into a tissue or your elbow, don't share food and/or drinks
  • Stay at home if you have any symptoms

In the past few weeks, students have also tested positive for mumps at Butler and IU Bloomington.
