LEBANON, Ind. - A nude man jumped from the second floor of a Lebanon home and stole a car because he thought police were after him, authorities said.
Officers were serving papers related to a divorce case at a home near Lafayette Avenue and Powell Street early Tuesday when they saw a man, who was nude, jump from a second-floor window a few houses away and take off running.
Police identified the man as John Baldwin Jr., 24, who apparently fled because he believed there was an arrest warrant for him, police said.
A short time later, a man in the area flagged down an officer to say that his car, which had been left running with the keys in the ignition, had been stolen.
About an hour later, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office found Baldwin and the stolen vehicle at a truck stop at State Road 3 and Interstate 74, police said.
Baldwin was taken into custody. He was treated at a local hospital before being taken to an Indianapolis hospital for further evaluation.
The mug shot provided by police is from a previous incident.
