Between buying one at a baseball game and the annual Fourth of July eating contest, America and hot dogs just seem to go together.

There is no better time to celebrate that partnership in central Indiana than Wednesday, which is National Hot Dog Day.

Here are some of the best places to grab a hot dog near the Circle City:

King David Dogs

Near the top of most “Best Hot Dogs in Indy” lists, King David Dogs is located at 135 North Pennsylvania St., near Monument Circle.

Signature hot dogs:

  • Reuben Dog (Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing)
  • South of the Border Dog (chili, nacho cheese, onions, jalapenos, salsa)

Most hot dogs at King David Dogs are around $5.

King David Dogs is open from 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Thursday.

DJ’s Hot Dog Co.

DJ’s Hot Dog Co. has three locations in the Indianapolis area, so hungry residents should be able to find a nearby location no matter where they are.

Signature hot dogs:

  • Jersey City Dog (barbecue sauce, bacon, cheddar cheese)
  • Atlanta Dog (chili, cheddar cheese, onion)

Most hot dogs at DJ’s Hot Dog Co. are around $4.

The hours vary depend on the location, but all locations are open for both lunch and dinner.

Happy Jack’s Hot Dogs

Happy Jack’s is a roving lunch cart based mainly in Greenwood. It is usually located in Old Town Greenwood on Main Street.

Signature hot dogs:

  • Hill City Hot (Virginia-style yellow relish, spicy chili sauce, onions)

It is usually open for lunch from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

Between the Bun

Between the Bun is more known for being a burger restaurant in Greenwood, but it also made some lists for its hot dogs. It is located at 102 S. Madison Ave.

Signature hot dogs:

  • Atomic Dog (mac and cheese, buffalo range, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, bacon)
  • Taco Dog (lettuce, tomato, cheddar jack cheese, onions, jalapenos, spicy sour cream in a tortilla)

It is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

The Mug

With one location in Irvington and one in Greenfield, Indiana, you shouldn't be too far away from a farm-to-plate hot dog. The Irvington location opened about a year ago, serving midwest classics like hamburgers and hot dogs.

Signature hot dogs:

  • The Kiply Dog (A scoop of Aunt Polly's Sloppy Joe)
  • The Mac Dog (Mac and cheese)

You'll spend about $6 for a hot dog at The Mug.
