A man from Indiana has been arrested and accused in a slaying-for-hire plot.

Eric Grabber, 55, who currently resides in Fairbanks, Alaska, was born in Mishawaka and raised in Indiana and Michigan.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Anchorage said Grabber had someone travel from Alaska to Indianapolis on Dec. 29 to kill someone in either Indiana or Michigan.

That person is only identified as having the initials "G.L.C. Jr."

The assistant U.S. attorney told RTV6 the intended target was an adult but wouldn’t say how Grabber knew that adult.

Prosecutors said he was to pay the killer $40,000 for carrying out the deed and even made a cell phone call Jan. 3 to ensure the killer was following through. But the slaying never happened.

Authorities arrested Grabber in Fairbanks on Thursday.

A detention hearing is set for Wednesday to determine if Grabber will be held in jail pending trial.
