FISHERS, Ind. -
Fishers, Indiana was named the 19th safest city in America.
NeighborhoodScout.com published a list of the top 100 safest cities based on total number of crimes per 1, 000 residents. The crimes included burglary, larceny, theft, motor vehicle theft, murder, rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault.
Fishers Police Chief George Kehl said he attributed the award to a partnership between his officers and the Hamilton County community.
"We are excited and honored to once again be named one of the safest cities in America. This award is a direct reflection of the active partnership between the Fishers Police Department and the residents they serve," Kehl said.
Carmel, also located in Hamilton County, was named the 33rd safest city in the U.S.
