INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana dentists hope to save the next generation of smiles with their new app called "Drinks Destroy Teeth."

The average American drinks more than 53 gallons of carbonated soft drinks each year, according to the Indiana Dental Association.

Diane Buyers says the goal of their app is to lower that number for the younger generations.

"Drinks Destroy Teeth" shows kids how much sugar and acid are in different drinks.

Buyers said their app targets fourth and fifth graders through lessons and experiments that show them how those things can affect their teeth.

The app was created entirely in Indiana with the help of Franklin College and Plow Digital.

"Drinks Destroy Teeth" is free and can be downloaded at DrinksDestroyTeeth.org.
