NEW CASTLE, Ind. - A New Castle man convicted of molesting a young girl was sentenced to 17 years in prison Thursday.
Caleb Cooper, 20, was arrested in July 2013 for luring a 6-year-old girl off a playground and into his apartment.
The girl’s brother followed Cooper into the apartment complex and told his neighbors what was happening.
When an officer arrived at Cooper's apartment, Cooper was getting dressed when he answered the door, and the girl was found naked in a bedroom, police said.
Police said that while Cooper was being transported to the police station, he told the officer, "She wanted to have sex with me. It was her idea."
