GREENFIELD, Ind. - A construction company official has been elected to replace a central Indiana mayor who died three weeks ago.
Republican precinct committee members picked 70-year-old Chuck Fewell as Greenfield's new mayor during a caucus meeting Monday evening. He will complete the last two years of Dick Pasco's term as mayor.
Pasco died Dec. 10 after suffering a recurrence of liver cancer.
Fewell won election in the first round of balloting and was greeted by an ovation from a crowd of more than 100 people. Fewell tells the Daily Reporter he's ready to hit the ground running leading the 20,000-person city.
Fewell has been a governmental affairs and business development representative for Milestone Contractors of Indianapolis. He previously worked for the Indiana State Police and Shelbyville Police Department.
