GREENWOOD, Ind. -- A mother involved in an Amber Alert of a 7-year-old girl will not be charged, the Johnson County Prosecutor said Tuesday.

Isabella Negri, 7, was found safe after an Amber Alert was announced Sept. 27.

Police initially thought the girl's mother, 27-year-old Morgan Negri, abducted her, but Morgan said it was a custody misunderstanding.

She said she was taking her daughter to a dentist appointment when the Amber Alert was called in by her husband after the two had talked about the appointment.

The Center Grove Police Department said they planned to seek criminal charges against Morgan, but the prosecutor saw differently.

"There is insufficient evidence to charge Morgan with a crime," Prosecutor Brad Cooper said in an email. "In fact, there is no evidence of criminal intent.  She will not be charged."

Morgan and Isabella's father were scheduled to attend a hearing in Johnson County court, but Morgan didn't show up.

Morgan said when she heard about the Amber Alert, the first thing she did was call police so they didn't think she was fleeing with her daughter.

"I called before the cop even got it on his phone," Morgan Negri said.
