No injuries in crash landing at Warsaw airport

WARSAW, Ind. - Police said a crosswind caused a small plane to go out of control at a northern Indiana airport, but neither the pilot nor his passenger was injured.
WSBT-TV in South Bend reported the single-propeller Mooney M201 was stopping to refuel Sunday morning at the Warsaw Municipal Airport on a flight from Marblehead, Ohio, to Grand Rapids, Mich. Warsaw is 35 miles southeast of South Bend.
The pilot, 63-year-old Thomas Kowalczk of Marblehead, told Warsaw police the wind tipped his plane as he prepared to land and a wing touched the ground, causing the plane to bounce and crash into barriers. Damage to the plane includes a broken wing.
Officers said Thomas and his 42-year-old son, Brian, were not hurt.
