INDIANAPOLIS -- A community center on the city's northeast side will close after more than 40 years of business.
The Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, located near the intersection of 38th Street and Arlington Avenue, will close on Aug. 1, and transfer its programs to other organizations in the community.
The center's director, Dana Harrison, said this is viewed as a short-term "pause of programming" to allow the Board of Directors to find the best ways for people in the area to access the services they need.
“Our board always has been, and remains, deeply committed to the Forest Manor neighborhoods," said Sarah Butler, Board Chair. "We are simultaneously heartbroken that we must shut our doors for a time, and energized that a better path can be established."
The center first opened in 1973.
