INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer was injured while investigating a mentally unstable missing person Tuesday evening.
According to IMPD, the officer, Justin Callahan, was at a man's home taking a statement from his mother when he appeared on his front porch and swung a kitchen knife at the officer. The officer was able to deflect the attack and the suspect ran from the scene.
That man was identified as Tyshune Neely, 24.
The officer sustained a superficial injury to his face but did not need extensive medical treatment, according to police.
Police set up a perimeter and called in a K-9 to search for the suspect but they were not able to locate him.
Neely is believed to be mentally unstable and police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him you should immediately call 911.
Neely is described as a black male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, approximately 190 lbs with hazel eyes and black hair.
