Officials: Alcohol possible factor in fatal crash

Crash remains under investigation

TRAFALGAR, Ind. - One person was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Johnson County on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened in the 1400 block of West County Road 300 South near the Fairhaven Christian Church just after 2 p.m., officials with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Two men were in the car at the time. One male was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead. The other male was alert and speaking when officials arrived.

The 18-year-old survivor told police the man who died was the driver, but evidence at the scene suggested that may not be true, officials said.

The survivor was taken to the hospital to be tested for illegal substances. Officials believe alcohol could be a factor in the crash because alcohol containers were found near the vehicle.

The identity of the deceased was not yet released. The crash remains under investigation.
