VERSAILLES, Ind. - Two tornadoes touched down in Ripley County, Ind. during severe weather overnight Thursday, according to Ripley County’s emergency management.
One tornado was measured as an EF1 with estimated speeds of 90 mph. The second tornado, an EF0, hit speeds of up to 70 mph.
The Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department, the Ripley County Sheriff's Office and Ripley County EMA responded to damage by the severe weather.
A home was pushed from its foundation, according to a photo from the Ripley County EMA’s Facebook page.
Officials said no injuries were reported and the home’s resident took shelter in a central room before the tornado struck.
The EF-ratings are tied to the Enhanced Fujita scale, which estimates maximum wind speeds in these categories:
EF0 = 65-85 mph
EF1 = 86-110 mph
EF2 = 111-135 mph
EF3 = 136-165 mph
EF4 = 166-200 mph
EF5 = 200 mph and higher
