INDIANAPOLIS - One woman was shot and killed and two other people were injured by gunfire Monday evening on the east side of Indianapolis, police said.
UPDATE 11:45 a.m. Tuesday: Investigators have identified the woman shot to death. They said she was Myeah Davis, 21.
Dispatchers said sometime before 6 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a shooting in the 700 block of North Denny Street.
When officers got to the address, they said one woman was found dead and they were told another two victims were taken to the hospital.
IMPD said one victim found inside the house was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Officers were later notified that another person had been taken to Community East Hospital in good condition by an unidentified person, and likely did not drive himself, police said.
Police were trying to piece together the details of the triple shooting.
"Right now we do believe it happened somewhere near a vehicle, at least the initial shooting scene and then there may have been multiple shooting scenes that happened," IMPD officer Kendale Adams said. "Right now detectives are talking to several people trying to determine what they may know."
The identity of the woman killed was not released, but more details were expected to be released following an autopsy, which will likely be performed Tuesday morning.
