INDIANAPOLIS -- He lost to Gov. Mike Pence three years ago in one of the closest state races in decades, but Democrat John Gregg says things will be different this time around.

Gregg says he's learned plenty looking back at why he lost and he's going to do everything he can to not just land undecided voters ahead of November, but also to sway some moderate Republicans to vote for him.

Gregg says he's not running against Pence the person, but Pence the politician. He says he is looking to woo those moderate Republicans who loved Governor Mitch Daniels, but may be unsure of Governor Pence.

"Governor Daniels was well respected by that moderate Republican that we have to get, and a lot of them thought they were getting a third term of Governor Daniels and they now realize they didn't. I want to make it clear that I've known Governor Pence for 35 years and our differences are political. I'm not saying Governor Pence is a bad person-- I'm just saying he's not a good governor," Gregg said.
