INDIANAPOLIS -- Two people are dead and one person was critically injured after a vehicle ran into an IndyGo bus stop shelter early Sunday morning on Indianapolis’ near northwest side.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of 29th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 3:25 a.m. They found three people lying on the ground and the vehicle involved in the accident.
The driver told police he was headed south on MLK approaching 29th Street when a vehicle traveling east on 29th ran the light at MLK, forcing the driver off the road. His vehicle then crashed into an IndyGo bus stop shelter that had three people sitting in it.
Officers say Marvin Kinchlow, 61, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he died. Eugene Guzman, 59, succumbed to his injuries Sunday afternoon. One man remains in critical condition.

Police say alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, but the driver volunteered to take a blood test which is procedure for fatal accidents.
