NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – One person died in a single-vehicle crash Friday night in Hamilton County.
Deputies of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters found 29-year-old Steven O’Neal of Elwood trapped inside his vehicle at the intersection of 296th Street and Carpenter Road around 10:30 p.m.
Investigators said O’Neal was driving eastbound on 296th Street in a blue 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier when he ran off the road and struck a utility pole. His vehicle flipped over as a result.
O’Neal was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team, but high water from recent rains may have been a contributing factor in the incident.
