GASTON, Ind. – A semi-truck crashed into a church leading to a four-car accident in Delaware County Friday afternoon.

Indiana State Police was notified of the semi accident while driving on I-69, near the 248-mile marker. The trooper was pointed to the northbound lane and found the semi had crashed into Living Hope Church, at 14300 CR 900 West.

The trooper let the driver, Daniel Castel, 44, out of the truck with non-life threatening injuries.

Castel told investigators the last thing he remembered was choking on a cough drop while driving northbound on I-69.

The truck drove through the church and exited on the northwest side, according to police. No one was inside during the accident.

A four-car crash occurred shortly after the semi accident due to drivers slowing down to look at the church scene. No one was hurt during the crash.
