'Orange is the New Black' actress to speak at Purdue University in March

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Judging by the national fanbase for "Orange is the New Black," people from all over Indiana could be flocking to Purdue University this spring to catch a glimpse of one of the show's actresses.

The Exponent, Purdue's Daily Independent Student Newspaper, reports Purdue LGBTQ Student Alliance is teaming with other campus organizations to host Laverne Cox this March. She plays the transgendered inmate with a whole lot of sass, Sophia Burset.

The actress' talk is titled "Laverne Cox: Ain't I a Woman: My Journey to Womanhood," a play on Sojourner Truth's 1851 speech, "Ain't I a Woman?"

Cox will give the talk at 7 p.m. March 26 in Loeb Playhouse. It's free and open to the public. The lecture is one in a series hosted by the center for its Distinguished Lecture Series.
