UNDATED -- Sometimes it takes tragedy to spur action, or just a simple note of thanks.
Ever since the killing of five police officers in Dallas Friday night, police across the country have reported on social media that people have offered their thanks for their service in many ways. Some are as simple as an anonymous thank you note, like the one tweeted on Sunday by Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine...
A Trooper found this note on his car this morning.

Shane Collier, a deputy with the Jackson Co. Sheriff's Dept., said he had a gentleman hand him this card and thank the deputy for protecting him and his family.
Then there was this post from Del Garcia with the Marion Police Department
And then this, about a boy in Kokomo, the son of Jason Fronczak, who had set up a lemonade stand to raise money for a trip to Sea World. The boy then insisted that his mom buy cookies for police officers in the neighborhood and give them free lemonade to boot.
Similar stories of thank you's to police can be found across the country, including North Dakota, where in some communities police cars were being plastered with thank you notes - the sticky kind.
