INDIANAPOLIS - The season just started, but the Pacers are losing their leading scorer due to a persistent knee injury.

The team announced Wednesday that Danny Granger received an injection Tuesday to treat patellar tendinosis in his left knee and will be sidelined for three months.

Granger hurt the knee during last season's playoffs.

The small forward has averaged just more than 18 points and five rebounds in seven NBA seasons.

The Pacers take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night.
