COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Parts for a device that helps a 4-year-old boy hear were stolen out of his mother's car in Columbus, Ind.
Laura Coate lives in an apartment building at 536 Pence Place.
Her son, Sora, is deaf and autistic. He's had a cochlear implant in his right ear for about three months.
Sora was fitted for an implant for his left ear last December. You can watch his reaction when the device was activated below.
Laura Coate told police that she left a backpack that held parts for Sora's implant in her car last Tuesday night.
When she went to her car the next morning, she found that the rear passenger window was smashed.
A portable DVD player, a coin purse and the backpack were stolen.
The backpack contained batteries, a charger, a remote for the volume and a drying kit for Sora's implant.
Anyone with information about the stolen parts for the cochlear implant is asked to call Columbus Police at (812) 376-2600.
