BEECH GROVE, Ind. - An Indianapolis man has died after being struck in a hit-and-run crash in Beech Grove late Sunday.
Beech Grove police were dispatched to a person down near the Taco Bell on the 3700 block of Emerson Avenue. Upon arriving, police found 33-year-old Ronald Vanatta of Indianapolis lying in the southbound lane of Emerson Avenue.
Police said a witness reported that Vanatta fell out of a truck he had been riding in before being struck by a vehicle, described as possibly a dark-colored Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable wagon with the rear passenger side window covered in plastic.
The vehicle then fled the scene southbound on Emerson Avenue, according to a police report.
