LAWRENCE, Ind. - Two people died Friday from wounds sustained in a shooting near a motel in Lawrence, dispatchers said.
The shooting happened just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of Pendleton Pike and Post Road.
Antwun Johnson, 22, was found inside the Park Terrace Motel, and Brian Barnette, 23, was found lying on the sidewalk of Pendleton Pike.
Both men were transported to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, where they were later pronounced dead, police said.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and persons of interest to try to determine a motive for the shooting.
Two nearby Indianapolis Public Schools -- School 98 and School 102 -- were locked down as a precaution while police worked in the area.
