INDIANAPOLIS - Two people faced DUI charges after crashing into two Indiana State Police cruisers on Indianapolis' north side early Sunday, officials said.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. on Interstate 465 near 56th Street when an ISP trooper was dispatched to remove a dead deer from the road.
As the trooper removed the deer from the road, a 1998 Honda struck the rear of the ISP cruiser.
After the crash, another ISP trooper was called to the scene and determined that the driver of the Honda, Fredrick Allen, 48, of Muncie, was allegedly intoxicated.
Moments later, the second ISP trooper's vehicle was struck by a 2000 GMC Yukon driven by Edwardo Frias, 28, of Indianapolis, officials said.
Allen and Frias were taken to Wishard Hospital with minor injuries and they were arrested on suspicion of DUI.
The ISP troopers were not injured, but their vehicles were totaled, officials said.
