GREENE COUNTY, Ind. - Three children were injured when their mother crashed the truck they were riding in while she was trying to outrun police, officials said.
Indiana State Police said Jessica Ann Purtlebaugh, 27, of Bloomfield, ran her Chevy pickup off State Road 58 Sunday morning after being clocked at 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Purtlebaugh told the trooper that she was trying to flee him when she lost control of the truck, police said.
The trooper found three children in the truck sharing two seatbelts without child seats or booster seats.
The children had severe lacerations, contusions, swelling and bruising, and some of their teeth were knocked out.
Purtlebaugh pleaded guilty to charges of child neglect in 2010 and was sentenced to a year and a half in prison after crashing her car with two young children in it, Greene County officials said.
Court documents said Purtlebaugh's blood alcohol content was .35 at the time of the 2010 crash.
Charges are pending in Sunday's incident.
