INDIANAPOLIS - The human remains found at a Montgomery County farm in May belong to a Carmel man missing since November 1996, officials confirmed.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office received confirmation Thursday that the remains belonged to Carmel businessman Ennis Craig Roberts.
Roberts' friends told RTV6 back in May that they thought the remains were his, but initial attempts at identifying the remains were inconclusive.
Officials found the remains at a farm in the southeastern corner of Montgomery County while executing a search warrant, acting on information they received concerning a 1996 homicide investigation in Hamilton County.
John D. Smith, an employee of Roberts, provided information on the location of the remains. Smith is currently serving 65 years in the Pendleton Correctional Facility for Roberts' murder.
