INDIANAPOLIS - A man was shot following a two-vehicle race that resulted in a crash on the city's northwest side Saturday night, Indianapolis Metro Police Department officers said.
The incident was reported about 10:30 p.m. when a group of people were leaving a party that was shut down in the 4400 block of Lafayette Road.
Police said at least two vehicles were racing down the 7000 block of West 56th Street and shots were fired from one of the vehicles. One of the vehicles ended up crashing into a tree at Eagle Creek Park. Witnesses told police that a black SUV was chasing and shooting at the vehicle that crashed.
When police arrived at the scene of the crash they found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to IU Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police said they are still searching for two men who were last seen running from the scene of the crash.
