INDIANAPOLIS -- In the wake of two fatal officer-involved shootings of black men, and the fatal attacks on police officers in Dallas, an impromptu, peaceful Black Lives Matter rally gathered in Indianapolis Thursday night.

The crowd of several dozen gathered next to the Museum of Art, at the corner of W. 38th Street and Michigan Road at around 11 p.m.

Kieaunta Roberson, an organizer of the rally, said they put it together in two hours through Facebook, text messages and phone calls.

"Even though (police shootings aren't) happening as much here in Indianapolis... it's still important because it's not just Black Lives Matter, but all lives matter. But for now, Black Lives Matter has the spotlight, and because it has the spotlight we're going to use it.

Another Black Lives Matter march circulating on Instagram is scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. at 16th and Meridian streets, and a second is scheduled for Saturday at noon on Monument Circle.
