Peaceful end to Lafayette SWAT standoff

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A standoff with Lafayette police was resolved peacefully Sunday morning after an apparent domestic dispute.
A SWAT team was called to a residence at the Fowler Apartments on the 400 block of Ferry Street in Lafayette just before 10 a.m. Sunday. Police were told a female victim was being held at gunpoint by a male suspect, who was reported to have multiple firearms.
The female victim, Diana Edwards, 59, was quickly released, and refused medical treatment at the scene.
The male suspect, Quay A. Edwards, 63, surrendered himself to police at approximately 1:20 p.m. after multiple attempts to contact him. Police recovered firearms and ammunition from Edwards' apartment.
Edwards was charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement and domestic battery. He was taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
