INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis' basketball program will start playing at the Pepsi Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds next fall.
Athletic department officials and basketball coaches got a look at the extensive upgrades taking place to the facility on Tuesday.
Fair officials said the renovations at the Coliseum are on schedule and on budget.
When complete, the arena will seat just over 6,800 fans for basketball. A new upper concourse and seating bowl has also been added.
The ice-making equipment will be replaced, along with new sound, lighting and scoreboard systems.
The 70-plus-year-old-building will include all of the modern amenities, while keeping the historic elements that make the Coliseum unique.
The Coliseum is set to be ready for events next summer, including concerts for the 2014 Indiana State Fair.
