INDIANAPOLIS - A Perry Meridian High School teacher has been placed on leave amid allegations of inappropriate behavior with a 16-year-old female student.

Denver Alexander was placed on paid administrative leave last week, according to a news release from Perry Township Schools.

The district contacted Child Protective Services and Indianapolis police. A police report obtained by RTV6 did not include any information about the allegations.

School officials became aware of the allegations against Alexander on March 5.

The girl said she and Alexander, a science teacher at the school, have been engaging in sexual activity since November.

"The district takes all allegations of inappropriate behavior between a staff member and student seriously," read the district's release. "When a complaint or allegation is brought to our attention, we investigate thoroughly, taking the appropriate action based on all the facts we can confirm."
